Once upon a time when I worked at a local dispensary, we got a shipment of Grön pearls, which were pretty and flavorful and nice little drops of gummy for a nice little price. They pretty much sold themselves, so I figured they were already a popular brand or they were known to work well. Probably 6 of one, half dozen of the other when it comes down to it, but the actual point I’m getting to is that when the Mega Pearls came in, I found myself sufficiently tittilated to the point that I bought a few.
The size difference from a 10mg pearl to a 100mg mega pearl is approximately a gumball : golfball ratio. The high difference is, of course, amplified as well. Other brands have branched out into the 100mg gummy offerings, and it’s been interesting to see the evolution.
GDF (Good Day Farm) has their Big AF gummies, which are similar in size, except they’re flattened into basically gummy slices, which are scored to make them easier to break into smaller doses.
And the third 100mg gummy I have to show all y’all is by Tsunami. This is the first time I’ve seen them in the gummy variety (I have wonderful things to say about their 1g all-in-one carts (coming soon ™), so I was excited to try the gummy. It is a lot thinner than the GDF slice, much like the Oreo : Diet Thin Oreo ratio. I have photos of one next to a Mega Pearl for comparison.
Aside from the size differences of these gummies, they also varied in flavor and, of course, in the actual makeup of ingredients and whatnots that go into the delivery of the 100mg of THC. As far as flavor goes, both GDF and GRÖN were absolutely delicious. I noticed on GDF’s packaging, it claims to be melt-proof. That would have been good to know a few weeks ago after I accidentally left one of my half-eaten mega pearls in my car on a hot, hot day in KC and ended up with a very warm jelly to finish later.
However, the Tsunami Swells was a miss on the flavor. Not absolutely terrible (that disctinction goes to Vibe and their “Bomb Pop” gummies), but definitely sort of chemical-y and not pleasant. The selling point was its thin size.
I do like the fact that both GDF and Tsunami had their gummies scored for easy division. That way, if you want to share with a friend, split it up over a couple of sessions, etc., it’s not as much of a potential mess. I feel like at some point I had a mega pearl that was also scored like a globe, but that wasn’t a change in production like I was assuming. Maybe it was a different brand and I just have forgotten since then?
Anyway, in all, I will take one of those Tropical Twist Mega Pearls (mmmmm…maybe a 10-pack) with my on my boat to Valhalla. It can nuzzle in next to my peanut butter M&Ms. The tropical twist flavor is so freaking good – like a pina colada, if you’re a tropical sort of gal. My main Bud (named Bud) loves the Peach Mango flavor of the GDF Big AF, so I try to grab those when I see them. I have not had a flavor of either of those brands I didn’t enjoy. And I find that Grön has a good variety that is focused on effect. Their blackberry for night-time is very useful for my insomnia. It comes in 10mg and 100mg varieties. I also like their daytime buzzy ones that help keep me socially lubricated when I’m really not feeling it.
